Um, er use dBm and fiddle visual gain to get what you want?

Watching test-team leads me to suspect Simon is reaching the point that new features introduce new faults in totally unrelated portions of the system. If it isn't broken and a work around exists for a feature such as this, don't fix it. Nobody knows what else will break.

Hi,

With Pluto RX-Gain set to 'Manual' (default gain 50dB, visual gain -30dB), the initialization seems to fail from time to time when starting the radio (either after program start or after stopping and restarting the radio, as shown in the screenshot). The overall gain is then significantly lower, either manual gain must be rised to maximum or visual gain must be set to around 0dB to get a spectrum/waterfall comparable to the default condition. Changing RX-gain to something else than 'Manual' does not show the issue. Manually changing the RX-Gain leads to the same issue. I have to power-cycle the Pluto in order to recover to normal usage.
Looking at the logfile, I see two error entries "Radio PlutoSDR> Error writing Channel attribute voltage_filter_fir_en = 1, error 22, Invalid argument" and "Radio PlutoSDR> Error writing Channel attribute hardwaregain = 50, error 95, Unknown error", but unsure if there is a relation to these error entries.

This occurs with console 3.0.24 as well as with at least 3.0.23. There is also no difference in using the bundled libiio.dll (which seems to be v0.17) or using the current libiio.dll version 0.21.

Is there a workaround apart from not using manual RX-Gain setting?

So he can freaking setup either MIDI or Comport control to mute the audio. Both can, I believe, control audio level. Just send audio level 0 and be done with it. To return to original volume send that level.

Hi Steve,
That's really good well done.
It's great for one modern rig.  I have approximately 15 different restored valve transmitters from the 1940's. All different and I don't wish wish to change the original nature of the vintage equipment, when muting can be achieved within the software.  The microphone pressels are all different and to interupt these connections with extra cables and wires would detract from vintage.  I am keen to keep an SDR receiver separate from a vintage transmitter for obvious reasons.  SDR receivers are used as a tool for us.  Ordinarily I use valve receivers and valve transmitters, but when conditions are difficult, use of a WEBSDR or an SDR onsite is very useful to resolve difficult transmissions.  An automated (adjustable) mute function (mute = audio only) in SDRC would be very useful. I also often use separate aerials for receive and also QRP valve transmitters, so any overload discussions are even less than a potential issue.

I fondly remember Lowe Electronics. My late father and I both bought equipment from you/them.

I lived in Alvaston, on the south side of Derby. I lived five minutes walk from the Nunsfield House club, best remembered as the organisers of tle much missed Elvaston Castle Rally.

Thomas,

How long has 3.0.24 been installed?

Was it working okay and has just started doing this?

Can you roll back Windows to the point before this behaviour started?

There might be a rogue update for Windows or another app that didn’t install correctly

Good luck!

See attached pic. It would be nice if the black space on the left of the map could be used for the clocks and space weather and perhaps another panel for date too. Perhaps if those panels and the map were dockable as in SDRC? Might this be useful for rotator operation too? I don't know, just askin'.
Another great app Simon. I don't use it often enough.

Audio gateway apparently..

anyway thank you all for your time on this..

after speaking to a pc audio buff it is not worth the effort. Ie Bluetooth is rubbish for audio If using a headset with built in mic.( ok for just rx audio.)

windows will always use headset defaults. Which is an old outdated means to just getting a telephone type connection. If it detects that headset has mic it will revert to this old protocol.
audio in ears will always be bad at best and mono.
tx audio will always be bad..
it is not ment to be good..it was designed in an time where headset processing and batteries were rubbish and also the Bluetooth bandwidth is not good enough to reliably tx and rx good audio..

so outcome..wired headset..bugger..anyone want to buy some headsets???

Subject: [SDR-Radio] Simon's World Map v1.0.10 - Space Weather data not displayed

Good afternoon all,

I cannot get the space weather data to display on the map. It is enabled but all I get is the display as shown on the attached screenshot. I've tried all the alternative data sources and also tried with AV and firewall paused but with no improvement.

Is it me?

Thanks,

Rob/G4UMW
