Interesting: I plugged the USB cable into another computer (Laptop), and it works fine with both USB ports connected, one with power only.
Back to the original computer (Intel NUC), same problem. Using another usb port doesn't help

Re: External Radio not working #sdrconsolev3

Eventually found the problem.

I had to delete everything in the registry for HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SDR-RADIO.com (V3)\Console\Ident0

and

C:\Users\<myusername>\AppData\Roaming\SDR-RADIO.com (V3)\Console\Ident0.

Then started the whole process again by ticking the box in More Options for the External Radio and restarted the program.

What a PITA

Re: Pluto #adalmpluto

If I plug in the power USB only, from an external supply, I get one solid blue led and one with a double flash, but no comms of course.
I plug in the USB from the computer, the LED status does not change, but Console does not see Pluto.
I pull out the power cable, the LEDs are still the same, and all works.
Re-starting Pluto and computer is not helping.

Frank, I have had the same problem. Unfortunately I don't have an answer about what is happening but wanted to say that you are not alone.

That is because you don't need to click the External radio button again.
You need to go over to the DSP pane on the left hand side and expand the External Radio window.
See screenshot.

maybe you did not wait long enough?!?

if you plug in usb power the pluto reboots and it takes a few seconds till the pluto then is again found in windoze

the usb power connector ... does nothing with the data lines ... so if it works with only one cable (only usb cable to pc) it also works with external power (second usb connector)

or did you accidently mix your usb cables and one of them is a charge only cable (only 2 consuctors!!)

I’ve been looking for a replacement VST plug-in for TriLeveler2 that does good speech limiting and it seems that it’s all about the look of the UI, when a thoughtfully designed UI that optimizes modern software controls would be a better choice. TriLeveler2 just gives you simple slider controls to adjust its handful of settings, no fanciness, just gets the job done. I mean, you can’t grab those Brainworx knobs and turn them with your fingers, so what’s the point?

Now, maybe if it accepted voice input and displayed settings this way it would be cool I suppose.

The indicator could look like this (look at receiver 3):

This would be the best option for me, as in my case the Receiver Pane slows down SDR Console significantly for some unknown reason.

I've clicked "yes" loads of times and each time the program restarts, if I click on the external radio button, I get the same window asking me to restart.

Re: Pluto via Ethernet - TX dropouts #pluto

Jean (DJ0VL)

I've seen that some OMs directly connected an LVT-354T to the GPOs. Probably works, but I would not feed comfortable with connecting a diode directly to an logic output port without current limiting. I designed a small PCB with a transistor driving the relay.

The main issue with the recommended TCXOs is the output amplitude (the other issue is phase noise). The stock XO delivers nearly 1.8Vpp square output while e.g. the often named Abracon TCXO delivers a 0.8Vpp clipped sinus output. The AD9363 input requirment is 1.3Vpp, the adaption is implemented in the Pluto by a capacitive voltage divider. As the XTLAN input seems to be a logic input, the switching level may just be reached on the crest of the clipped 0.8Vpp sinus. This may lead to timing jitter resulting in spurs, poor phase noise etc. due to the low slew rate at the switching level. The AD9364 reference manual clearly states that a high slew rate on the XTALN input is required for best performance. The 0.8Vpp clipped sinewave output level of typically used TCXOs seems to be borderline, as it works for some or most of the Plutos, but there are many reports about spurs that appear after TCXO modifications.

I'm not aware of an easy way to generate 40Mhz out of the 10Mhz GPSDO output, but this depends on what you call an easy way. For my usage, I designed a low noise PLL driving a 40MHz VCTCXO that is locked to a 5MHz or 10MHz GPSDO output. It includes a level shifter to provide a squarewave with 1.8Vpp to the Pluto. A more simple way is to use a PLL-synthesizer chip like the SI5351a with the drawback of a poorer output signal quality with regards to phase noise. With a 50 Ohm load, the Si5351a can be configured to deliver the required output level.

According to the data sheet, you can feed in a 10MHz signal to the AD9363 (with a modified Pluto configuration file). As I saw problems reports when using a 10MHz reference, I did not try it out.

Until you allow the program to restart you wont be able  to see the external rig control window, so don't be shy click Yes.

XIT

David M0TGC

Presumably the XIT function is only visible when a transceiver is in use?

Could this be available when a receiver is used and transmit is via an external radio controlled by CAT?

When I am working full duplex, for example on QO-100, I select a clear frequency on the receiver, tune to it with my external transmit radio, make a test transmission and adjust the transmit frequency to correctly position my signal in the IF display.  If I then change frequency I have to do it all again but adjusting via an XIT slider would preserve it for the session.

Would this work or is there a better way to operate full duplex?

Re: RF quiet laptop

Jorge Garzón Gutiérrez <iberiaDX@...>

Hi,
I reckon that is a very wide open question as every folk here has different needs. I have an HP dedicated tower without permanent internet connection and I bought a Medion Akoya S3409 laptop. Why? I use it in the field or in the middle of the night on /p environment. I needed:
Retro lighted keyboard (to easier use with no light at all)
Good screen contrast.
No HDD to get the best in battery saving.
Be rechargeable or operated from the cigarette lighter in the car.
Built in aluminum to better dissipate the internal heat.
Very light and portable.
It runs CSDR very good but if I tried to record 8 MHz band 2. Then it suffer some jumps that distort parts of the audio, so I use 6-7 MHz and that's it! Solved.
I bought an external mini Toshiba HD and I store my i/q there. Then I can check them out very comfortably at home with the PC or the laptop itself if I am running an DXP. .
Everything runs smooth and no problems at all.
In the field I use the laptop and a Huawey 9,6" tablet to enter data and check info from the web or access to FMLIST account or DX forecast charts.
That's all!
