Yep ! I know that SDR-Console is the best out there so insisted ...and probably soved ... the problem was in the SPF-08 pre-selector. I connected the antenna directly to the S2 and removed the SPF-08. All is now working great ! Does this make sense?

Hmmm... Totally opposite of the issue I had before Simon spent a week on the Server software. I had to open a browser (Chrome) and surf the web for stutter free audio/video. But since his rework of the Server software, not an issue anymore, In fact I can run a server via WiFi, both on the host and client computer and still no issues. Even from a hotel WiFi too!

This is a Windows feature, and is by design. It allows you to, let's say, backspace rapidly and delete a line of text, or insert multiple decimal points, by pressing and holding the appropriate key. Windows has options to control or deactivate this option, but the change is global and effects anything you do with your keyboard. I tried the deactivation route, but found the cure was worse than the disease. Perhaps the solution would be to designate the shift key to activate the zoom function while the CTRL key continues to access the direct entry input.

stuttering or not .. highly depends on ...

what sdr used??

what bandwidth used??

what pc (what processor and how much ram)?

usb2 or usb3?? or  a network sdr (ethernet)? ... maybe wireless lan involved??

buffer size settings in console (defaut/x2/x4)

and lots of other settings (waterfall speed, spectrum resolution, spectrum "filling" ("shaded" on or off)

if display open or not??

what other "boxes" open??

how many receivers active?

as an example ... on my super slowish atom tablet i still can use console with no stutterng and low cpu load (lowest seen was around 6%) ... but when i use all additional options ... open a lot of boxes and a few receivers  ... use higher resolution etc etc ... i can crank up the needed cpu load to complete death of the machine (nearly) ... so ckeck your settings ... there are dozens of settings that lower (or crank up) the needed cpu power

Hi Jim, Didn't try a new identity

I've tried so much I've driven myself nuts! Tried uninstalling and then making sure there were no registry entries left and then reinstalling. Still the same, so would assume that the identity thing would be covered in this.

After a clean install of Win10 all is well, and like other users above I note that when I install and run Chrome the stuttering returned! (all default Win10 & SDRC settings and also the same with above normal priority) However, thankfully now when Chrome is not running the stuttering is gone. I can live with that!

Try to use a new identity?

I had an issue with one particular identy stuttering... I just stopped using it and used a different one - problem gone.

Re: How to upgrade an HF+ v R1.00.00>

Kriss Kliegle KA1GJU

Forgot to mention, due to a firmware issue, the FIRST firmware update requires the case to be opened and two solder pads have to be shorted initially during the proceedure.
It's in the README text file of the download:
Recovery Procedure:
Due to a bug in the first firmware, this procedure must be used for the first firmware upgrade. Subsequent updates should work with the standard procedure above.

1.    Open the HF+ enclosure
2.    Connect the device to the PC
3.    Short the Erase pins for one second (see the photo)
4.    Disconnect the device from the PC
5.    Connect the device again
6.    Double click on flash.bat
7.    Wait until it flashes and verifies the data
8.    Disconnect the device from the PC
9.    Connect the device again
10.    Done

Subject: [SDR-Radio] HL2 CW Power Output control #cw

Hi Simon et al:

I made a video to illustrate the difficulty with setting the power level in cw mode with my HL2 build 9, under Windows 10/64.

I am endeavoring to demonstrate that the cw output can indeed be reduced to about a watt as indicated correctly on the power output meter using the OP slider. However, when I pause, the HL2 drops out of transmit, and when I close the key again the power is back up to the full 5 watts.

I am grounding only the tip of the front panel jack using a mercury relay driven by the AEA MM3 keyer. The gateware I am using is 71p1 which is otherwise satisfactory and can be seen here: https://github.com/softerhardware/Hermes-Lite2/tree/master/gateware/bitfiles/testing/20200425_71p1

The p2 version works identically in regard to the cw output level.

The power output in cw does not have this issue in PowerSDR.

The video can be downloaded from my Dropbox at: https://www.dropbox.com/s/xk1posxo3n2pojj/MVI_0001.MOV?dl=0

Sorry to give you more work but I hope this helps.

Thanks!

Pete

Thank you Simon, one less to try on the list! SDR Console plays perfectly the recordings from the Analyzer but  when I run it with the Elad I have only white noise on the spectrum and on the speaker. The original Elad software it's working fine, so there is no issue with the antenna, the S2, cabling etc. I have some wrong settings somewhere, It'll be a long funny night ...

Bye, Fabio.

Re: SDR console and SatPC32

Simon,

Lol, trust me I know all too well, this is not actually that easy to explain and I have hours of trying different settings and research, this is the closest I have come. I have had SDR Console Controlling my TX of the Rig while running the SDR receiver and it controls the doppler great the rotor great. I just could not get passed the delay my HF rig this is not an issue because I mute the RX, but on Sats I listen to the RX thru a headset. If you like I can send you a video of what I have going on. Now if there is a way to get SDR Console and Omni rig to run the RX of the IC-910 with the SDR receive and control the TX of the 910 that would allow me to just use SDR console for everything. The picture I am including shows how I have DX labs DX commander linked to the SDR Console, but without console being linked to omni rig it will not allow me to tell the SDR to use the IF of my transceiver. Hope this helps. Joe W4WT thanks for your input as well.

Frequency zoom using the mouse wheel opens numeric input window #bug

Thomas

The recently introduced feature "Numeric frequency input window pops up by double-pressing CTRL" has also introduced a side effect: When zooming into frequencies using pressed CTRL + mouse wheel, this input window pops up after each turn step of the whhel. It seems to me that the CTRL key, which has to be hold down all the time while turning the mouse wheel, triggers a second CTRL keypress event. In turn, this triggers the window to pop up. Unfortunately, this is very annoying. Would be great if this could be fixed.

Windows 10 (1909), SDR Console 3.0.22

Re: SDR console and SatPC32

Joe W4WT

Simon, I would think simply (easy for me to say!) allowing the "Up Converter" method that is in the External Radio setup to also work with the CAT ports should allow this functionality.  The desired frequency setting is being provided by Commander to one of the ports, the 10.8 mhz. (I assume in this case) IF signal is going to the SDR that is attached to SDRC and with the offset set appropriately it should show the correct frequency while displaying the IF signal.

Just a thought,

Joe W4WT

Hallo,

Back after some time I just re-installed V3.0.22 on my laptop with Win7 for the Elas S2. I had an older V2 and V3 versions which had been disinstalled before the new installation.

I understand on the forum that I'd adjust the RF gain but I'm not able to find it. Form some videos I think it'd be somewhere in the home bar after 'calibration' but apparently is not there. Do I need to search somewhere else or arrange some other setting ? I also tried to disinstall a couple of times and also deleted all the  past files in the users/user/AppData/Roaming but did not worked.

I'm feeling a bit fool as probably it's as easy as drinking a glass of water ...

Why not the Hermes Lite 2 discussed here recently? Opens up TX possibility as well. Ethernet connectivity built in.
