Re the gain: That is what I mean with gain sensitivity being high.

With 3.0.15, Audio gain 60, compression 60, I need a drive setting of 75 to create a two tone signal 6dB below the beacon. No spurious.

With 3.0.17 the drive setting is 18,  the spurious are there and the tx output frequency is fixed, no matter what the tx frequency window says.

you did not engage geo beacon (or why are you txing out of your own rx window?!?)

i use a pluto now for nearly a year (as long as qo100 is on air) ... and my pluto is ALWAYS txing fine (no spurii to be seen)

do you have tx offset switched on?!? (switch it off ... no need on qo100 for tx offset!!)

i see that you use a very low drive from the pluto (only 20%)... means you have a very high gain amp BEHIND the pluto towards antenna

that means that "ghost signals" or spurii that would normally not be seen ... are then still to be seen on the transponder

add attenuator behind pluto and use a bit higher drive with such a high gain amplifier (guessing you use a datv setup on nb transponder?!?)

best is drive area of 80 to 90 % (that gives cleanest signal here on my station) settings above 90 ... and the pluto is not so clean anymore ... (same as with all trx ... fullpower gives dirty signal)

with such a high gain behind the pluto you will see those ghost signals ... adding attenuator and using higher drive in pluto may solve that

Re: Anan 10E TX problem??

Simon Brown

Yes,

Sadly it’s the firmware which Phil isn’t going to update I believe. I have to flip to TX quickly which then brings RX back to life.

I currently use the ANAN 10 which has a bigger FPGA and has the current Phase II firmware, works well.

Hi Group....

Just wondering if anyone else has run across this....

When TXing with the SDRC and the Anan 10e SDRC will not always go back to RX. It just locks up.

I can hear the relays in the Anan and in the amp switch back to RX but SDRC waterfall does not start again.

I have attached 4 screenshots.

Good RX  and Good TX. These are the baseline screenshots.

Bad TX  is what my TX screen looks like RIGHT before the radio does not switch back to RX.

Notice no power out on the meters. I am still getting power out and obviously tones out as I can see the power on my external power meter

at the same level as it is when I have power out showing on the SDRC meter and hear the tones over the speaker.

As you can see I am using FT8 for this test.

Bad RX is what my SDRC screen looks like when it locks up directly after the Bad TX period.

The Bad RX period is ALWAYS proceeded by a Bad TX period.

If I double click on the big TX button it will start to RX again correctly.

This happens very often. Maybe 6 times in 1 hour.

I have my Anan plugged straight into the SDRC computer with no switch or router in line. Just static IPs.

Thoughts on what I am doing wrong anyone?

I have 4 Anan 10Es in the shack so if needed I can swap the Anan's out to see if it is just on the one being used on HF or if it is on the other Anan 10Es being used on the other bands too.

I am using SDR Console version 3.0.17  build 1686.   Every time I update win 10 OS pre-releases audio doesn't work.  It always involves the audio drivers. Uninstalling the audio drivers in Device Manager and restarting the PC some times fixes the problem.  Uninstalling the audio drivers and re-installing manually sometimes fixes the problem.  This time after the latest win 10 OS update last night nothing fixes it.  I have SDRuno installed on the same PC and have never had a problem with it.

Any ideas?

SDR-Console v3.0.17 with DXtreme not changing frequency

chanitotx@...

Connected SDR-Console to DXtreme using virtual ports. All looks good. Using the DXtreme Monitor Log 12, I can double click a frequency in the database, and the SDR-Console frequency display changes accordingly, and the tuning cursor moves to the new frequency on the panadapter. However, the receiver doesn't actually start receiving the new frequency, nor does the IF window change, until I manually move any digit on the RX1 frequency readout.

So which of the several means of tuning frequencies did you use? Were you tuning the center frequency? If so by sliding the lowest frequency scale left or right or by clicking the keyboard next to that scale or using the menu? If not were you trying to change the tuned receiver frequency with the scroll wheel in the spectrum/waterfall or the numbers upper left on the main or matrix display?

**I tried tuning the K3, and using the mouse wheel on the displayed frequency in SDR Console, both methods resulted in the same behavior. If I turned off sync with the K3 the display did not freeze. Increasing the poll time in omni rig seems to result in a marginal improvement

There are a lot of ways to change frequencies. Simon will certainly need to know which one you used.

You might also want to check what the CPU load is.

** CPU utilization was in the 10-15% range

That said I don't think any of the methods I can think of at the moment normally cause the display to pause more than very briefly, which happens when the center frequency is changed and the front end frequency synthesizer must relock. Data continues to flow but it may appear like it is glitching at that time in my experience.

Re: No audio after updating win 10 #sdrconsolev3

Roger Need

This happens all the time after a Windows 10 update.  It is very frustrating but is a simple fix.  In your privacy settings in Windows 10 go to your Microphone settings and make sure "Allow access to the microphone on this device" is ON.  Also go to "Allow apps to access your microphone" and make sure this is ON.

The word "microphone" is misleading, in fact all sound input devices are blocked unless apps are granted permission to use the microphone in the privacy settings of Windows.  The word "apps" is also misleading as it affects all applications, not only those listed under the Windows privacy setting.

Hope it works for you....

you did not engage geo beacon (or why are you txing out of your own rx window?!?)

i use a pluto now for nearly a year (as long as qo100 is on air) ... and my pluto is ALWAYS txing fine (no spurii to be seen)

do you have tx offset switched on?!?

The spurious signals are only there with the latest console. Thes frequencies are fixed. They don't change. Never mind what the display says.

I was able to resolve # 1 and #3 by changing the protocol of the DXLab Commander Secondary port from K3 to Kenwood TS-590.

I’m working through configuring SDR console v3 as a panadpater display for use with a K3. The configuration is as follows:

SDR Console v3.0.17

Win 10 pro Intel I7 gen 8

SDR-IQ

DXLab with Omni-Rig connected to the secondary com port of DXLab Commander using virtual com ports.

I’ve have run into a couple of issues that I have not been able to resolve:

  1. When the K3 mode is set to Data A (USB) the SDR Console displays Data-L. Using DXLab Commander to change radio mode to Data=L, SDR Console displays Data-U
  2. SDR Console will occasionally display the B VFO frequency of the K3, the radio is not in split. DX Commander and my amp both display VFO A properly
  3. I’m unable to get the passband on the spectrum display to overlay the actual passband correctly. I suspect that this is related to #1.

This is a great application!

Any assistance is greatly apricated.

Hallo Sigi,

Vielen Dank fuer die Antwort,

Please explain for dummis: why must I engage the geo beacon? I don’t need it for frequency stability.

I use the Pluto for a few month now. Works fine with v3.0.15  No spurious. I put the curser over the signal I want to respond to and push the PTT. Works.

Only problem is the disconnects of the USB, in spite of the mods suggested to the grounding  in the Pluto. Aber das ist eine andere Geschichte.

Offset is off

Re the gain: That is what I mean with gain sensitivity being high.

With 3.0.15, Audio gain 60, compression 60, I need a drive setting of 75 to create a two tone signal 6dB below the beacon. No spurious.

With 3.0.17 the drive setting is 18,  the spurious are there and the tx output frequency is fixed, no matter what the tx frequency window says.

Am well aware about overdriving things. Maybe there is some default setting I have not discovered yet?
