Thank you, Kriss, but neither of those links cover the receiver pane at all (Menu: Receive, View, Receiver Pane).

Hi Rand,

It depends what you want to do with the receivers.

If you don't need a lot of bandwidth, then the HF+ is the better receiver - it gives you a max of 768khz.

The SDR Play has a much bigger bandwidth, up to 10Mhz, but is less bombproof with strong signals.

If you need 6m, then the RSP1a will cover it, the HF+ doesn't.

Hope this helps.

Barry, you can open as many RXR's as your CPU and GPU in your computer can handle, but they have to be within the SDRC's/RXR's bandwidth.
i.e. My SDR-iq has a max bandwidth of 190 kHz, so I could open several RXR's within that 190kHz of spectrum. For reference, my AirspyHF+ is 768 kHz, and my SDRPlay is 2Mhz(?).

You can also open numerous 'stances' of SDRC and connect to multiple RXR's for listening to numerous frequencies in the various bands.

What exactly are you attempting to do? i.e. listen/record  several HF stations at the same time that are tens of MHz apart?

Sorry, this a bit off topic but may be useful for some:

Steve, agree Classic Shell was good while it lasted but is now abandoned and moved on to Open Shell at GitHub but even there they are struggling to keep it updated apparently.

Author's reason for abandoning was constant updates to Win10 keep breaking Classic Shell and he could not keep on top of it. In fact I do find Win 10 by far the most stable of any Windows version, and with a little time it can be made to behave almost exactly like Win 7. Even the new Start menu is OK if you take time to configure it the way you like it, and typing first few letters of item with start menu open finds any setting or program quickly.

I personally hate the new "pin to taskbar" feature for programs as it results in a messy taskbar when progs are running (in my opinion) but the old style "Quicklaunch" bar can be quickly reinstated. These instructions for Win7 but works in Win8  and Win10 too:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/975784/guided-help-enable-the-quick-launch-bar-in-windows-7

To keep a snapshot of desktop icons the way you like them in case they get muddled or sorted by accident use tiny prog called DesktopOK by SoftwareOK, and to search for any file or folder on your machine literally instant results I use Everything by Voidtools. Would not be without either of these tools now, particularly Everything, as the Windows search is painfully slow and flaky. Both these progs are freeware.

Hope it helps to get things back the way you like them!

Re: Is SDR Console V1.5 dead for good?

Kriss Kliegle KA1GJU

I had a user on mine today, but probably will not be able to use it once my IP changes. Once that happens, then I guess the plug gets pulled and switch those two over to SDRC V3 servers.

Yes, the map AND frequency in use was a great feature to look and see what folks are actually listening to. Currently V3 server (and the web list pf servers) shows center of the bandwidth, not too hard when a user selects 30 kHz, but when they are at 100 to ~, then all bets are off as to what they are listening to. Oh, the ability to listen to the audio was nice feature too on V1.5, but I know that would be taxing the server computer since it just sends the IQ data to the Internet, not audio. Nice to see such a low CPU load on my little Atom processor Netbooks though!
It was a fun ride while it lasted... time to get off and look forward to V4, 5, 6, ....  LOL

If you want to freshen your Win10 installation and update to the latest build (1903) at the same time, you can download this WinPE tool directly from Microsoft.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/manufacture/desktop/winpe-create-usb-bootable-drive

With it you can even format the hard drive and install a fresh Windows 10 operating system and then restore your backed up data.

Even if it won’t work out for you this time, it’s very handy to have around. I just used it to resurrect an Win10 PC that was given to me without knowing the password. There was nothing on it to save so I just re-did the whole thing factory fresh.

Because it started out with the most recent release of Windows the updates didn’t take long.

I just doued teh sys to another disk and updated the old disk... You will get LOTS!!! of updates so be very patient.

The W10 is working fine now.  Just do not like that W10 does not keep my desk top as I left it.  It arranges it in some unknown order.

The upgrade will uninstall the old OS parts.

Is it time to close the casket on V1.5 and hold a pint up high in honor of the beginnings of SDR Console?

Or is it a slight oversight? LOL

Memories Not Working

Dear Simon,
Greetings. I trying to use memories with frequencies that i have saved. However, when i click on a memory the receiver never goes to the frequency. As you can see in the attached screen shot, the correct frequency shows on top, but the frequency bar still show 17 meter band.  Is there something I'm missing?
