Being able to select all kinds of images brought me to the idea of a rotational "screensaver" Having the map display different images from a folder at certain times

Food for thought :-)

Please don't laugh, the little netbook works great as a server. Operating SDRC locally on it is asking too much for the little bugger (build 1234 currently for test purposes). Reinstalling 1241 after this is sent

Thanks,

I have something similar. I really doubt the HF+ code will run properly. Please show me the logfile for this netbook:

  • Start the console
  • Save logfile
  • Close console

The logfile will show me what the netbook CPU options are. I think you’re way below my minimum spec., we’ll see though.

Kriss,

Mystery solved.  I guess I must have missed that new feature in all he mail traffic.  Will flash it later just need to do some chores first.

Thanks for your help.

First-Time Update (Recovery Procedure:)

Due to a bug in the first firmware, this procedure must be used for the first firmware upgrade.

Subsequent updates should work with the standard procedure above.

1. Open the HF+ enclosure

2. Connect the device to the PC

3. Short the Erase pins for one second (see the photo)

4. Disconnect the device from the PC

5. Connect the device again

6. Double click on flash.bat

7. Wait until it flashes and verifies the data

8. Disconnect the device from the PC

9. Connect the device again

1. Connect the unit to the PC

2. Double click on flash.bat

5. Done

If you look at the firmware change logs, you will see the addition of manual gain settings in R1.2 dated Feb 15, 2018

R1.2 - 2018-02-15

This revision adds manual settings for the Preamp and the AGC Threshold. The new functionality requires SDR# r1640
or later, but is backward compatible with older software.

Paul Mclaren MM0ZBH

Kriss,

Thanks.  I will check again when in the shack later and might put my money in 2) below:

1) I don't get the four options you have in the left hand yellow box.  I only get Visual Gain.
2) I'll need to check auto mute - it could be that but it is that type of issue I am experiencing.
3) Visual Gain does not work when using SDR Server but does work when using Spyserver.

Alps just for info running 3.0.3 and original batch HF+ which I have never re-flashed as I don't have any issues (yet).

I would just use Spyserver but SDR Server is a lot better at handling strong nearby signals on the hambands (Simon's special code I guess)

Paul

Kriss,

  1. What is the CPU info for this computer? This is essential information.
    1. To see this: SDR Console, Ribbon Bar, Tools, DirectX Diagnostics.
    2. Example below.
  2. For now this is the only information I need.

I'm creating a 'new' thread to see what other server system operators see when a user operates their AirspyHF+ acting as a server. The high CPU load causes the audio and waterfall to stutter at any bandwidth. The same computer runs an SDR-iq at 192kHz with no issues at all, excellent audio/waterfall.
Anybody else with similar issues, please add here to this thread. Simon is aware per another thread about the AirspyHF+, but we should have a separate thread.

Please include the following:
1) Computer used
2) CPU load as shown on the Server Service "Service" tab while in use.

1) My setup is a Windows 7 Starter SP1 32bit Acer Netbook 2G RAM. This little netbook runs two radios, an AirspyHF+ and an SDR-iq as a V3 1234 build server.

2) CPU load when AirspyHF+ is in use is 51% versus only 1% for the SDR-iq

Gain on SDR Server vs Spyserver using Airspy HF+

Paul Mclaren MM0ZBH

I am probably missing something obviously but how do you adjust the gain on when using SDR Console connecting to SDR Server using a HF+?

When the noise floor is very low (using 160m with a long beverage) it starts to clip and stops receiving audio on weak sigs.   Switching over to Spyserver gives a higher gain and the same audio is received.

It is like I need to turn up the gain when using SDR Server but can’t see how.

I still have this problem on my office computer.  Some symptoms:

  • It's ok when SDR-C is first started.
  • But when I change frequencies, the audio becomes low and it's just static, but not pure white-noise noise but distorted static.
  • I'd record it, but the recordings are fine.  Good audio on those, just not while listening to it live.
  • Changing frequencies a few more times sometimes clears it.
  • Seems isolated to this work computer, so I'm thinking the driver (but there's no updates) or this headset.
  • It's also isolated to SDR Console.  Server or local SDRs.  Other SDR programs, Spotify and my VOIP are ok.
  • The waterfall doesn't change, but the received audio spectrum is just a relatively constant flow compared to good audio.
  • Some pics attached.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Mike
