Lost Omni-Rig!

tylerhster@...

Well I went and did it. I had Omni-Rig working great with SDRConsole v.3 and started playing around with some port settings and God knows what else, and now Omni-Rig has completely disappeared from the DSP window and I can't seem to get it back!

Anyone know how?

Barry,
what size monitor are you using?

Hi michi_lumin,

I have an older version of the Ettus b200.  I forget which chip it uses.  It's always a PITA to first get it to work the first time, but when it works it is awesome.  Simon will comment on the issues with the Ettus firmware.

I just fired up the b200 and Simon's latest V3 code.  All is working smoothly monitoring ATC stuff.

Remind me how you check on the Ettus firmware version, and I'll get back to you.

Newer (rev 6) Ettus B200 (with AD9364) on SDR Console 2.3 or 3

michi@...

So, we're using an Ettus B200 at work where I really need to capture some signals. Ordered it with the impression that SDR-Radio 2.3 and 3 supported the device.

It seems I need to get it working under SDR-Radio 2.3, which only supports Firmware 3.7.1 on its UHD_SDR.dll included.

(The reason I can't use 3.0 is because I have one machine where immedately upon startup i get the "Please wait..." dialogue and it crashes to desktop - no amount of uninstall or reinstall or reset is fixing that. On another machine, SDR-Radio 3.0 operates extremely slowly, won't change the LO, and for some reason after you hit 'start', everything 'starts' but the 'start' button doesn't remain pressed, as in its not in a full 'start' state. These are other things I don't know what to do about here.)

In any case, SDR-Radio 2.3 works fine; but is constrained to Firmware 3.7.1 on the Ettus B200.

Problem is this: I can go back to Firmware 3.7.1, but that only supports the 'older revision" of the Ettus B200, which had the AD9361 chip, not the AD9364 chip which is now included in the B200. (Only firmware 3.8.4 and above supports the newer hardware revision of the Ettus B200.)

Is there any way to obtain a newer UHD_SDR.DLL that supports firmware 3.8.4 and the AD9364 chip, or above?

I know people are going to tell me to 'just go to gnu radio', but wow I don't want to do that :|

The only other alternative would be convincing the boss to return the ~$750 B200 and get a ~$1250 B210 which still has the AD9361 chip which SDR-Radio 2.3 supports.

The problems I'm having with 3.0 I really don't know what to do about. I can't find any references in the threads here to the immediate "Please wait..." problem (on one computer) or the weird sluggishness and controls not syncing with the state of the program (on another).   I chalked all of that up to the program being an alpha release, but it seems a lot of people use it as their daily driver, so I figure the issue must just be me. :|

Hello
I'm newbie with SDR Console
My equipment is :

FTdx5000 with Funcube on IF (9 000 000)

I also use LPB2 software to have 2 virtual ports :
The Hardware port is #7 and with LPB2 I create 2 virtual ports :
#8 use with Logger32
#9 use by Omnirig

I am running with Windows 10 / 64 bits French system

I use HDSDR ; CWSkimmer and CSJT-X thru Omnirig and that works fine

Actually I use HDSR Program but I saw a demonstration of SDR Console at Friedrichshafen and I would like to use it

1) The first question is about Omnirig

The first time : after I installed SDR Console that works fine

But If I close SDR Console and launch again it , that doesn't works I always have an error
Error creating Omnirig (see my screen copy) I don't know why ?

Omnirig is installated on  C:/Program Files (x86)/Afreet directory
SDR Console is installated on C:/Programmes/SDR-RADIO-Pro.com directory

2) The second question is about Frequency settings (External Radio Options)
25 juillet 2017 à 17:39
Hello

Does anyone use SDR Console with an FTdx5000 and a Funcube ??

I use elad fdm s2 with the if out of the ftdx5000. The if out option is not currently supported by sdr console.
It may be in the future.

Different "Paul" here.....

While I too am a fan of HDSDR, I find SDR-Console V3 works just fine with RSP2 and on a laptop. In fact, I use V3 almost exclusively on my Thinkpad X1 Carbon laptop with either the touchpad or the Thinkpad Trackpoint. To tune to a specific frequency, tap on the waterfall. To tune up or down within the sampled bandwidth, scroll either way with whatever pointing device you are using. I don't see any material difference between tuning on V3 vs. HDSDR. In fact, I find V3 to be simpler and more intuitive than HDSDR because you don't have to worry about the "local oscillator".

Buggy integration in V3 with RSP2? I have found no bugs at all after updating to the current build. My only complaint is that where SDRUno stores the antenna selection with a stored memory channel, V3 does not. On the flip side, V3 stores the displayed bandwidth and SDRUno does not.

Thanks Simon,
I guess I need to wait memory banks are installed..  I am using favorites, but I found files I wanted to put in v3and I can not seem to import them.  Memory banks would probably sole my problem.  Thanks again.  This is really good software.

Mark,

  • I assume you downloaded from my website?
  • What operating system – W10?
  • What’s in these popups – there really shouldn’t be any other than the suggestion that you create a radio definitions. Maybe add a screenshot of a popup? I’m getting a bit worried that there’s malware or intrusive anti-virus running.

All-in-all, if you install the software everything the operating system needs is installed at the same time (C++ runtimes). From W7 through to W10 you’re good to go.

Re: SDRplay2

Alan Predmore

Paul and others,

Although I find V2 and V3 very impressive pieces of software, I find that they aren't modeled after a full featured transceiver/receiver.
I find that the RSP2 integration is quite buggy for the time being. HDSDR is quite friendly.
Just being able to access the EXTIO "front end" to directly control RSP2 settings is a joy.
And "spinning the dial" like any piece of desktop amateur radio is capable of only requires a short learning curve with SDRPlay sponsored software.
The hinted laptop computer support (or lack of) and need for an external VFO, mouse, etc. has hindered my use of V2,3.
I like to use my laptop for mobile use, so keeping things compact is of importance.
Scan and store in banks would be nice, for HF and VHF.
I believe from reviews that the RSP2 radios are selling like hotcakes and many owners like me are looking for alternate SDR interfaces to use.
Not exactly a Ferarri that has to go to the shop every week, but something that we can take out and drive and know we will make it back home.
..not positive what a 2CV is but if it involves Lucas electrics, i'll break out in shivers. guess Google is my friend!
My donation would be based on making things I feel as important "must haves" jumping out in front.

I suppose there's a bug in OPTIONS > RECORDING > DATA RECORDING OPTIONS. I can't modify the CACHE default value (0 sec) nor the LOCAL / UTC time. If I set it to say 5 sec, then OK, it still shows 0 sec when back in this window (build 823)
