I had been getting the disconnect and connect sounds
from Windows frequently and because my 4-port USB extension hub is
on the bench in front of me I bump or move the cables often and a
disconnect would occur. I didn't have any TV tuner spray from
years ago but do have a couple of the little bottles of a red
contact cleaner that were supplied with every Bristol chart
recorder we used for building systems at my work place back in the
1970's. Great stuff! I just dip a small screwdriver into the
liquid and capture a couple drops to transfer to the connector
contacts. Voila! No more ♪bleep-bloop♪ intermittencies.
Isopropyl alcohol would work temporarily to clean the contacts but
contact cleaner leaves a film that helps prevent oxidation.
Replacing the connector isn't too difficult if need be.

Al,
This appears to be a USB problem.
Maybe bad lead, bad socket, or even a fault in the computer.
