Thanks for your thoughts.  I'm back working again with 845.  I'll stay here for a while and see if anything bad happens.  When I do up-rev, I'll try to monitor carefully what's going on before I get the lock-up.  One thing is certain, when it decides to quit starting, there doesn't seem to be anything I can do other than reinstall.
