I'm going to guess you have issues with local noise and it's better to reduce Rx local noise than most others .... a helical mag loop or plain loop for hf if your limited with space.

If you unplug the coax from the radio and noise floor drops 20db (or so) change the antenna. Verticals always pick up local noise.

Question, i have a NetSDR connected to my computer via through the router. If by adding a sound card (currently using the onboard audio) would this lower the signal noise floor or only enhance the audio playback only? TIA
