Re: Keep current frequency always in the center?

I am opposite in thinking to Rado.  I much prefer the display of the waterfall exactly the way it presently is.
When looking at the the bottom bar showing the 200 kHz bandwidth, on 75 meters I know I am looking at the specturm of 3.8 to 4.0 mHz.  That bottom bar is wonderful in concept.  When on a shortwave broadcast band, same thing.

Looking at the waterfall, based on the bottom bar, I know where I am at all times.  I hated the way Spectra Vue locked it in the center.  That is why I used Winrad over it, then when SDR Console came along it too didn't lock the frequency in the center.

There is only one good thing about Spectra Vue, its AM broadcast audio is excellent.

The problem with locking the waterfall to the center frequency is when it is an odd ball frequency, it is hard to eyeball the with accuracy the other frequencies.

I do not want to loose this great concept, exactly the way it is!

Hi Everyone,

This is my first time posting here, so let me express my awe and respect to Simon for his efforts and the great work he is doing with SDR-radio. It is shaping up to be an amazing alternative for RFSpace product users (like me) and I am sure to many other people with different hardware.

Sorry if my question has been answered already, I searched but could not find related posts.
So here goes my question - Is there a way to lock the currently received frequency to always stay in the center of the spectrum/waterfall (or more precisely the lock the spectrum around the current frequency) ? Like in Spectravue, so when tuning the receiver the spectrum is always centered around the current frequency?
I have searched around SDR-radio's options but could not find such an option. At present the marker has to go over the edge of the spectrum for it to jump to the next segment (+- 50 kHz ?!?). So tuning around the bands is kind of "jumpy".

All the best,

Rado

PS. I am using SDR-radio with SDR-IQ.
